Italian artist Emilio Pasini, painted these portraits of Edoardo and Maria Bianchi in Milan in 1909. Edoardo is renown for inventing the modern bicycle. The portraits were given to Peter Mercer, Curator of the the former Pet Falls Museum by Bianchi's grandson in 1966. When the Pet Falls Museum collection was sold to the Burnie City Council the paintings, were stored away only being discovered in 2021 in the Burnie Regional Museum art collection.

Do you know the Bianchi family, who formerly lived in Upper Natone? If so, we are keen to get in contact to research further information on Edoardo and Maria and how their portraits ended up in Burnie.
