Re:Connection by Bruce Latimer

Bruce Latimer’s works span vast distances in preparation for our arrival. Where feet may fall onto vacant space and we may disappear into chasms unseen, Bruce has already forged ahead and paved the way on our behalf.

Bridging more than two decades, Re:Connection exhibits 60 works from Bruce Latimer’s dedicated etching portfolio. Meticulously created and skillfully printed, these works showcase both the Artist’s dexterity and his deep psychological focus.

This survey exhibition from a master printmaker gives us insight into the sometimes tenuous but never ending connections between the seemingly disparate and far flung. Is a car a tree? Is an animal a plant? Where are we in all this?

There is a place we fit in, even when we feel placeless. That place is the gap in between and Bruce’s work shepherds us through the unfamiliar territory to arrive safely at meaningful conclusions on the other side.

Represented by Australian Galleries in Sydney and Melbourne, Bruce Latimer is included in multiple collections including the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Burnie Regional Art Gallery. Since returning to Australia after 15 years in New York, Bruce has lectured at multiple universities and colleges including the National Art School and University of New South Wales. He is the recipient of numerous awards and has exhibited on an international scale throughout his career.
