The Friends of BRAG are excited to announce the launch of the BRAG Film Society, a new initiative created for members who enjoy quality cinema and shared cultural experiences.

The Film Society will present a curated program of films throughout the year, offering members the opportunity to discover acclaimed stories from around the world in a welcoming and social environment.

First Screening: The Duke

Join us on Saturday 25 July, with doors opening at 5.30pm for a 6.00pm screening of The Duke.

Inspired by an extraordinary true story, The Duke is a charming and uplifting British comedy-drama starring Helen Mirren and Jim Broadbent. Set in 1961, the film follows Kempton Bunton, a taxi driver who steals a priceless portrait from the National Gallery and becomes the centre of one of Britain's most unusual and heartwarming criminal cases.

The bar in the Long Room will be open, and light snacks can be pre-ordered from Fleur Café.

Membership Required

Due to film licensing requirements, admission to Film Society screenings cannot be sold as individual tickets. Attendance is therefore available exclusively to current financial members of Friends of BRAG.

Membership provides:

• Free entry to all BRAG Film Society screenings
• Invitations to special Film Society events
• Opportunities to connect with fellow film enthusiasts
• Support for BRAG's ongoing cultural and community activities

Two additional Film Society screenings are already scheduled for later this year, with details to be announced soon.

2026 Friends of BRAG membership fees are:

• Single Membership — $30
• Couple Membership — $50
• Student Membership — $15

 

Membership renewals are due following the Friends of BRAG Annual General Meeting, to be held on Saturday 18 July at 2.00pm in Braddon Hall.

We invite all existing and new members to be part of this exciting new chapter and look forward to welcoming you to our first Film Society screening.
