Van Diemen's Band's immensely popular lunchtime concert series returns!

Enjoy a tempting menu of five diverse short-form concerts held in your lunch break - for less than the price of a sandwich.

Curated by VDB’s Artistic Director, Julia Fredersdorff, these concerts showcase some of Tassie’s finest musical talent, alongside interstate and international guests, in an eclectic program of music spanning a rich variety of genres and styles.

Escape the hustle and bustle and step into an oasis of calm listening to beautiful music in a casual and welcoming setting.

 

Thursday 6 November –Jacqueline Ward, soprano

With a voice like “honey sliding down crystal” (The Courier Mail), soprano Jacqueline Ward returns by popular demand with a program of vocal delights.

Thursday 13 November –VDB: Forget Me Not

Van Diemen’s Band reunites with mandolin wizard Luke Plumb and special guests Khalida de Ridder (violin) and Slovenian singer Rebeka Dragolič for a very personal program of joy, love, loss and survival.

Thursday 20 November - Pictures at an Exhibition

Leading Australian pianist Kristian Chong performs Mussorgsky’s epic “Pictures at an Exhibition” in its original piano form.

Thursday 27 November - Patterns of Plants

Van Diemen’s Band teams up with Melbourne’s Astra Ensemble to present Japanese composer Mamoru Fujieda’s “Patterns of Plants”, with a gorgeous blend of traditional Japanese and Baroque instruments.

Thursday 4 December - Xyris Quartet

Discover the beguiling sounds of Tasmania’s only vintage saxophone quartet, with Benjamin Price (soprano), Jabra Latham (alto), Thomas McKay (tenor) & Eva Nilssen (baritone) performing works by Bach through to Percy Grainger, alongside new Tasmanian works.
