January 'kicks off' with creative development of TROPHY

Burnie Arts is delighted to partner with project company Steamworks Arts who are developing a new dance theatre performance TROPHY here in Burnie.

Fresh from seed developments as part of RAWspace 2025 (Theatre Royal, Hobart) and LOFT (ADT, Adelaide) the team are coming together from across Australia for a two-week development and will be in residence at the new Burnie Arts workshop space, while also working off site at West Park Oval.

TROPHY is about women, sport and competition. In conversation and through the sharing of stories, the team are generating a site responsive work that offers fresh perspectives on women’s’ experience on and off the playing field. The team will be reaching out to local sporting clubs and players inviting them to share their stories.

Join us for a welcome Morning Tea on Monday 13 January at 10am to meet the creative team and hear more about the project, and/or come along to a progress showing on Friday 23 January from 1pm. (Venue: West Park Oval. (Location details will be provided)

Please register your interest in either or both events via  Morning Tea RSVP  or  Progress Showing RSVP

Project Team:

Sally Richardson (director), Natalie Allen (performer), Louis Frere-Harvey (composer/sound designer), Jason Gareth James (Lighting/vision designer), Clare Spillman (creative producer, TAS), Samantha Cordell (production/SM, TAS)
