ARTWORK ELIGIBILITY
Entries are open to artworks created in print media only. This includes works produced primarily using techniques such as relief, intaglio, planographic, and stencil printing.
Digital reproductions of print artworks are eligible, provided the original work was created using traditional printmaking methods.
Works created primarily in other media—including painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art (excluding digital reproductions of print artworks), photography, and mixed media—are not eligible.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
The Burnie Print Prize is open to artists aged 18 years and over at the date of entry, who are living and working in Australia. Employees of Burnie City Council and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
Artists may submit one work only (which may comprise multiple components). The work must be in excellent condition and must have been completed within the two years prior to 30 October 2026 (i.e. after 30 October 2024).
Two-dimensional works may be submitted framed or unframed. Where works are framed, artists must grant permission for the Gallery to attach D-rings to the frame to suit the Gallery’s hanging system. Where standard hanging systems are not suitable, detailed installation instructions must be provided at the time of entry.
All works entered must be available for acquisition.
Artists may elect to opt in or out of offering their work for sale during the exhibition. Works offered for sale will be subject to a 30% commission. All artists, regardless of this election, must provide the market value of their work for insurance purposes.
Entrants must confirm that they are the original creators of the submitted work and hold all necessary rights and permissions. Any infringement of third-party rights will result in immediate disqualification.
Burnie Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) recognises and respects the intellectual property, moral rights, and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property rights of artists.
By entering, artists grant BRAG a non-exclusive copyright licence to display, reproduce, publish, and communicate images of the submitted work for non-commercial promotional purposes associated with Burnie Print Prize 2027. This licence applies from the time of submission until the conclusion of the subsequent Burnie Print Prize exhibition in 2029 (a period not exceeding three (3) years).
The recipient of the Burnie Print Prize 2027 agrees to grant Burnie Regional Art Gallery a non-exclusive copyright licence in perpetuity for non-commercial promotional purposes, including promotion of the Gallery, its permanent collection, and associated activities.
Submission of an entry constitutes acknowledgement and acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

INSURANCE
Selected works will be insured while on site at Burnie Regional Art Gallery, including during storage and return transit only. The Gallery accepts no responsibility for loss or damage during inbound transit. Entrants are strongly advised to insure their work during delivery to the Gallery.
Artists must notify the Gallery of any specific insurance or inspection requirements. Due to staffing limitations, condition inspections will occur within two weeks of receipt. Receipt of a work does not constitute confirmation that it has been received in good condition.
CONDITION REPORTING
BRAG will undertake a photographic condition report within two weeks of receipt. This report will document the condition of the artwork upon arrival and will be used for comparison at the conclusion of the exhibition and prior to return.
Artists are advised to retain their own photographic documentation of the work, including all components and packaging used for transit.
SHIPPING
All inbound shipping and packaging costs are the responsibility of the entrant.
Return shipping, using the same method as delivery, will be arranged and paid for by BRAG. Works will be returned in the original packaging provided.
