Friday 13 July, 2012

Image Performance - PORTRAIT 1336

“A virtuosic musical and poetic tour de force, which has evoked standing ovations in Paris and Australia.”

Accompanied by Christopher Cartner, piano

An artistic young musician goes to Paris to learn how to live ... along the way she encounters ghosts of the artistic Parisian past. A concert-theatre piece with delicious French music from “la Belle Epoque” to the present day. Jane reminisces about the most beautiful and romantic city in the world. Using French poetry and her own anecdotes, she tells the tales of artists, writers and musicians who used Paris to form their ‘artistic personalities’.
An Australian in Paris includes the legacy of the Rampal School and the ‘tres amusant’ company of Picasso, Baudelaire, Verlaine, Colette, Josephine Baker, Janet Flanner and Gertrude Stein. Music by Debussy, Faure, Jolivet, Poulenc, Elgar, Roussel, Marais, Ravel, Bolling, Cole Porter, Mancini, Piaf and Aznavour.
“Flute Queen”, Concert Soloist
, and #1 Adventurous Classical Artist, a virtuosic disciple of Jean-Pierre Rampal and Alain Marion, Jane presents the flute as a “voice”. Renowned for her dynamic performing and teaching, she has appeared in the UK, Europe, USA, South-East Asia, South America & China and is a household name in Australia. Described by ABC Classic FM as “one of Australia’s leading performance artists” Jane has released 12 top selling solo albums & crosses into theatre, jazz, cabaret and TV. “Jane’s playing breathes contemporary life into French Flute School’s elevated position and recalls its glorious past. I thank and applaud Jane for her passion and enthusiasm, and give her a ‘bravissimo’ for her superb talent!”
Raymond Guiot Professeur de Flute, Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris.
