The inaugural Burnie Wearable Paper Art Competition is an initiative of the Burnie Arts Council, a branch of Tasmanian Regional Arts. Burnie Arts Council is now in its 63rd year of making arts happen on the North West Coast of Tasmania.
This project is a collaboration with Burnie Regional Art Gallery's Arts for the Community Program and Makers' Workshop.

• Advice of successful/unsuccessful entries: Mon 2 - Tue 3 April 2012
• Delivery of work to Burnie Regional Art Gallery by Friday 11 May 2012
• Gala & Parade Award Evening: Friday 25 May 2012
• Exhibition dates for selected works at Makers' Workshop: 1 June - 15 July 2012
• Artists to organise collection of their artwork by 1 June from Burnie Regional Art Gallery, or by 22 July at Makers' Workshop, Burnie
For the past 70 years Burnie has been a paper town. Although our commercial paper mill closed last year the papermaking tradition is kept alive by Creative Paper, a traditional handmade papermaking facility located at the Makers' Workshop, Burnie Tasmania.

Our aim is to further foster and promote the cultural paper heritage of our town by presenting innovative and wearable paper apparel.

WEARABLE PAPER ART DESIGN WORKSHOP

Colleen Burke, Melbourne based artist/designer, will be conducting a two day hands on workshop as a lead up to the Burnie Wearable Paper Art Competition.
This workshop is optional and fees apply. Limited workshop places.
