Film buffs will have a rare opportunity to see home grown film shorts at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre from April 30 until May 8.

Short Attention is a mini festival showcasing Australian short films at the Arts Theatre.

Burnie Arts Director Greg Leong said the festival was aimed at attracting audiences for dedicated Australian film makers.

Mr Leong said the three programs were especially complied for the Centre’s first subscription season and would be shown over two weekends.

“This really is a rare opportunity to see home grown film shorts,” Mr Leong said.

“These films will intrigue and enthrall you. There is something for everyone from romance to comedy and suspense to drama.

“And they are all short films. The longest film is 18 minutes and the shortest is only 2 minutes. Each 90 minute program contains 9 to 11 individual gems.”

Mr Leong said each of the three different programs would be shown on Fridays at 7pm and on Saturday at 5pm and 7pm.

Short Attention distributes Australian short films solely, sourced through partnerships with Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Tropfest and a variety of independent producers such as Elissa Down (The Black Balloon) and Nash Edgerton (The Square).
