New watercolours by local artist Jan Suter
Friday, 9 April 2010
West of Burnie A very striking exhibition of new seascapes by local artist, Jan Suter opens this Friday 16 April at 6.30pm at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery.
Jan Suter has lived on the north west coast of Tasmania all her life, “This is where I find the inspiration for my watercolour landscapes” says Jan and adds, “I am driven by this passion to define the beauty of this island. I want to share with you its serenity and its majesty.”
“Not only has Jan worked with the traditional horizontal representation of the landscape, but it is very exciting to see how she has explored the elongated vertical format, which we would normally associate with oriental works.” adds Gallery Director, Greg Leong, who will open the exhibition.
West Of Burnie will open in conjunction with two other exhibitions: Returning – contemporary textiles and Digitized by local artist, Michael Cannon.
Exhibition dates: Saturday 17 April – Sunday 30 May 2010
Jan can make herself available for photo and interview upon request. Please contact the Gallery.
