Burnie High School presents the musical production The Snow Queen which is based upon the original story by Hans Christian Andersen. This is the same fairy tale that inspired the very successful Disney movie Frozen.

The Snow Queen sweeps through the streets on snowy nights, looking in at the windows - her breath leaving strange icy patterns on the glass.  “Yes, I’ve seen them”, says Gerda, but little does she know that her best friend, Kai is about to be spirited away to the evil Snow Queen’s Ice Palace.

So, as the spring thaw arrives, Gerda's quest begins – an adventurous journey from Denmark to the frozen north, passing through every season and encountering a host of colourful characters along the way.

Featuring a cast, band and crew of over 200 students, this musical features a whole range of interesting characters and corny gags.  One of the most appealing features of this production is the musical score that includes a number of very well-known songs from artists such as Michael Buble, Foreigner, The Proclaimers and Bruno Mars.
