Welcome to Burnie Art Gallery!

Situated in the city centre, the Burnie Art Gallery venue is operated and maintained by the Burnie City Council as part of the Burnie cultural precinct and is supported by our corporate partners, the Friends of Burnie Regional Art Gallery and assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts.

As a public gallery space within a multi-purpose arts centre, we do three main things: manage our collections, present exhibitions and, together with the other elements of the downtown precinct such as live performance venues and the Regional Museum, provide the cultural heartbeat of the city.

The Burnie Art Gallery venue presents an annual exhibition program that includes touring and special exhibitions, school and community programs and curated exhibitions from our permanent art and museum based collections. It is supported by floor talks, openings, workshops and other events throughout the year. BAG’s national reputation is built on the strength of its exceptional print collection acquired through the biennial Burnie Print Prize, and its promotion and support of printmaking.

Admission is free for most exhibitions and fees may apply for occasional special exhibitions only. BAG is kindly supported by the Friends of the Burnie Regional Art Gallery.
