Terrapin Puppet Theatre is back with its latest children’s show Pip & Pooch, on Saturday 13 July 2013 at 2pm at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre.

When 9 year old Pip receives a birthday gift of a pet dog with a camera around its neck she is unsure how to react.  But the wisecracking pooch wins her over with innocent common sense that only comes from stretches at the dog pound.  The pair soon form a bond that Pip uses as protection against her ever-popular big brother Jayden and Snooty the school bully. So when the camera reveals a photo of the dog apparently flying, Pip devises an ingenious plan to solve all her problems by getting the pooch to just fly again. But dogs can’t talk, and dogs can’t fly…or can they?

Deputy Mayor Sandra French said, “The mystical world created by Terrapin Puppet Theatre does not disappoint, leaving audiences amazed and demanding more! Families are crying out for things to do, and this is the perfect show for the whole family. Your children will be talking about the show for days after. Book today!”

In this quirky and hilarious new play, Terrapin Puppet Theatre once again combines photography, and traditional and digital puppetry in an inspiring tale of real friendship, revealing the magical bond of a child and their pet, and how to win over your foes.

Terrapin Puppet Theatre aims to inspire families by encouraging them to express the power of their collective imagination through inventive play with the objects and devices that surround them. In 2012, Terrapin’s production, Boats, won the Helpmann Award for Best Children’s Show.

Burnie Arts & Function Centre Director, Geoff Dobson said, “We are thrilled to have Australia’s premier contemporary puppet theatre, Terrapin Puppet Theatre back in Burnie, presenting another world-class production for young people and their families. Terrapin embraces new technologies while remaining true to the wonder and illusion resident in the age-old craft of puppetry.”
