Subscription numbers high before first show for the season

Wednesday, 01 February 2012

The action packed 2012 Burnie Arts & Function Centre’s subscription season kicks off this Saturday night.

Deputy Mayor Sandra French said, “The season for 2012 is full of variety and top class performances. Burnie is really making a name for its self in the arts. We already have over half the amount of subscribers we had by the end of last year, even before the first show.

“Over 200 people have re-subscribed or have newly subscribed and booked their seats for the shows they want to see for the year.”

Last year over 360 people became subscribers to the BAFC season, which had over 14 events. With over 17 events this year and already a large amount of subscribers Director Greg Leong is confident this year will be another record breaking year.

“It’s so easy to become a subscriber and there are huge benefits. All you have to do is book tickets to at least two shows and you and your family will receive discount prices to the performances, discounts at 28 supporting local businesses and even subscriber only functions, where you enjoy our hospitality and the opportunity to meet the performers after the show.

“Tickets to all the 2012 subscription season shows are now available, so I encourage everyone to look ahead, pick the shows you would like to see and book in advance and reap the benefits,” Mr Leong said.

The first performance for the season is guitar genius Bruce Mathiske who will take to the stage this Saturday night at 8pm in the Theatre.
“Expect an entertaining night of stringed excellence with infectious rhythms from far flung corners of Mathiske’s guitar and beyond,” Mr Leong said.
