Spike: The Echidna

Wednesday, 27 April 2016

Spike: The Echidna, an interactive production told through contemporary shadow theatre, will be playing at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre on Wednesday 11 May at 11am, 1pm and 6pm.

Spike is the story of an echidna who is stolen from his nest by a greedy rat. He hatches from his egg far away from home and is then found by a young girl who does not know what type of creature he is as he doesn’t have his spikes yet.

Spike is entertaining and fun, as well as being a catalyst for a discussion about difference and belonging.

After the performance the audience will be treated to a demonstration of shadow puppetry techniques, introducing children to the expressive hands-on story telling medium.

Burnie Arts & Function Centre will also be taking Spike: The Echidna to Rosebery District School for an exclusive performance, all thanks to MMG’s support through the artsUNEARTHED program.

The artsUNEARTHED program provides access to quality arts experiences for the community through audience development activities, workshops and opportunities to exhibit and perform. Council thanks MMG for their ongoing support of arts in our community.
