Shakespeare as you have never seen it before!

Friday, 26 July 2013

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) is coming to the Burnie Arts & Function Centre on Saturday 10 August 2013 at 8pm.

In a world where we constantly lament that we are time-poor, who has the time or indeed the stamina to endure the daunting length of the Immortal Bard’s canon? So join us for a bold, speedy, irreverent romp through all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays.

Three brave actors brazenly blend the best of the brilliant Bard with the scrapings from the bottom of the absurdity barrel in this farcical feast of inspired lunacy. A side-splitting roller coaster ride involving improvisation, pop culture and audience participation, as well as the fastest, funniest version of Hamlet you’re ever likely to see.

Cast members include comedian Damian Callinan, Nic English and Tim Overton.

Deputy Mayor Sandra French said, “Complete with ridiculous outfits, amazing laughs, hilariously fast paced performances and audience participation, it’s guaranteed you will be rolling in the aisles laughing and demanding more.”

Burnie Arts & Function Centre Director Geoff Dobson said, “This performance is perfect for people who always fast forward to the highlights of a movie. It is short, funny and shows all the best bits.”

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) has become a global phenomenon with seasons in over twenty countries including a record-breaking nine year run at London’s Criterion Theatre in the West End.

This is a State Theatre Company of South Australia Production written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield and performed by arrangement with Hal Leonard Australia. The Australian Government is proud to be associated with this tour through the national performing arts program, Playing Australia, which gives Australians across the country the opportunity to see some of our best performing arts.
