Thursday, 21 August 2014

Find out why people are raving about Swamp Juice, a shadow puppet comedy show made out of rubbish at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre on Monday 1 September at 6.30pm and Tuesday 2 September at 11am and 8pm.

Swamp Juice is a playful and immersive shadow puppet experience, about one man’s romp through a swamp. See amazing characters created in shadow from things you have lying around home.

3D glasses will be handed out and the audience will be thrown into the unforgettable 3D finale.

Deputy Mayor, Sandra French stated, “Swamp Juice is a show that will blow audiences away. It is unique, enchanting and good fun. The 3D finale is sure to amaze! This show will make you rethink your every movement and the shadows you create and make you think differently about simple objects.”

Swamp Juice was the winner of the Total Theatre Award Edinburgh Fringe 2011 performing to sellout crowds.

Swamp Juice is the second production from acclaimed Canadian-born performer, Jeff Achtem. Jeff creates his puppets using bits of rubbish and household items and allows the audience to take a peek at how each silhouette is made.

Recommended for ages 7+. Swamp Juice might frighten very young children.

Burnie Arts & Function Centre’s Director, Geoff Dobson said, “Swamp Juice is utterly spellbinding. Achtem’s creations travel from the stage, to the walls, to the ceiling and right into your head.  It is innovative, memorable, fun and for not just kids. Adults will love this show as well!”
