Origin of O takes you on a digital journey

Wednesday, 09 September 2015

World renown TaikOz in collaboration with The Digital Shamans are bringing Origin of O to the Burnie Arts & Function Centre on Tuesday 29 September at 7pm for their only Tasmanian performance.

Origin of O fuse traditional Japanese drumming with digital music, live performance, dance, photography and videography.

Burnie Arts & Function Centre Director, Geoff Dobson said, “This show’s premiere sold out in Sydney. It is the highlight of our 2015 Subscription Season and exclusive to BAFC. They will not be performing anywhere else in Tasmania, so make sure you see it.”

The Digital Shamans are award-winning transmedia artists and have received accolades from Festival de Cannes, and New York Independent Film Festival; and were commissioned to create works for the Hyde Park’s 200th anniversary, and Vivid Sydney in 2014.

TaikOz is responsible for introducing the art of Japanese drumming to Australia, and have performed on stages around the world. TaikOz regularly performs in Australia’s finest concert halls as well as the theatres of regional Australia.

The performance explores the many incarnations of spirituality and where it fits in the digital realm of our times: from mapping atoms and molecules to grand notions of orbits, galaxies and the universe.
