Classical guitar duo perform their new album in Burnie

Tuesday, 25 September 2012

After their extremely popular appearance in Burnie and Devonport three years ago, their anticipated return to the coast has arrived.

In their only North-West Coast performance the Grigoryan Brothers are ready to create another spine tingling evening at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre on Wednesday 3 October at 8pm.

Deputy Mayor Sandra French said, “We welcome back the Grigoryan Brothers to Burnie. They really bring something new to classical music and from their last performance, I know we are in for a very special night.”

On this tour, brothers Slava and Leonard will perform highlights from their new album The Seasons, as well as a selection of their favourite pieces. This will include compositions from all corners of the world and pieces that display their improvisational skills.

While the brothers have both forged careers that demonstrate great skill across a number of musical genres, The Seasons album and tour marks a return to a more classical setting, while still pushing the limits of what two classical guitars can accomplish together.

Director of the Burnie Arts & Function Centre Greg Leong said, “The Grigoryan Brothers have performed at many iconic festivals and venues around the world. They are really intriguing to watch perform. They create what sounds like a full orchestra using two guitars. Their skills are admiring to watch.”
