International Jazz Day

International Jazz Day will be celebrated in style at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre at 7.30pm on Saturday 30 April. This year will be the fifth annual celebration of International Jazz Day on the North West Coast.

Audiences will be treated to performances by internationally acclaimed trumpet player and singer Gianni Marinucci, as well as the Viktor Zappner Trio, featuring Sophie Leslie.

Trumpeter Marinucci has had a wide and varied career – touring internationally to Hong Kong, Thailand and Europe and has played with many inspiring jazz figures such as James Morrison and Don Burrows. In 2016, Gianni will be a featured performer at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Los Angeles. Gianni is also a jazz clinician and has travelled extensively around Australia conducting master classes at universities and colleges.

Tickets to this event are $15.00 and are only available from the Burnie Arts & Function Centre on the night. Door sales open at 7pm.

International Jazz Day Fun Fact

US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will host the 5th anniversary International Jazz Day All-Star Global Concert at the White House on April 29th and this spectacular event will be broadcast on Saturday April 30th and streamed on the United Nations, UNESCO, U.S. State Department and White House websites. The concert will feature an extraordinary array of artists from around the world; including James Morrison, Herbie Hancock, Sting, Aretha Franklin, Diana Krall, and many others; paying tribute to the truly American art form of jazz.
