Bum thief comes to Burnie

Tuesday, 31 July 2012

Be aware there is a bum thief on the loose in Burnie.

Monkey Baa Theatre Company presents a hilarious adaptation of the popular book by Tim Winton, The Bugalugs Bum Thief at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre this August.

Bums, bottoms, behinds, call it what you like. We can guarantee this show will be 55 minutes of fun for the whole family, but be warned, you might just laugh your bum off!

Deputy Mayor Sandra French said, “It’s wonderful to have a fun show come to Burnie specifically for the younger members of our community. It’s set to be a fun family show that will have your children giggling for days later.”

The Bugalugs Bum Thief tells the memorable story of the town of Bugalugs where inhabitants wake up one morning to find their buttocks missing. All 496 citizens of the town of Bugalugs are bumless.

Skeeta Anderson, with the help of his best mates Billy Marbles and Mick Misery, set out to discover where all the bums have gone and to find the culprit of the crime. After much mayhem and madness Skeeta finally unravels the mystery and Bugalugs gets back to normal…well almost. Everyone has claimed the wrong bum! This is where it gets interesting.

Embarrassment and pride get in the way of everyone taking their original bums back, so Skeeta organises a swapmeet in the local town hall and becomes the town hero as the kid who caught the Bugalugs Bum Thief.

Director of the Burnie Arts & Function Centre Greg Leong said, “The Not Just Books, store in Burnie have a great deal for families to celebrate this performance to Burnie. Purchase a copy of Tim Winton’s children’s book The Bugalugs Bum Thief from Not Just Books and get two free children’s tickets with any adult ticket purchased.
