Award winning Australian play on show in Burnie

Thursday, 26 July 2012

This is not a love story. This is a story about love.

The award winning Australian play, Boy Girl Wall will be performed at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre on Tuesday 7 August at 8pm.

Deputy Mayor Sandra French said, “I have been looking forward to this production since the subscription season was announced. I thoroughly enjoy a good Australian play and this is the only performance of this production in the North of Tasmania.”

Boy Girl Wall brings to life the story of Thom and Alethea, two neighbours in an apartment block. The two are trying desperately to keep their lives from falling apart, but the wall that stands between them has decided they belong together.

Director of the Burnie Arts & Function centre Greg Leong said, “This play can only be described as a beautiful, funny and ultimately touching production not to be missed,” he said.

Following sell-out seasons across Australia, this hilarious smash-hit production by The Escapists is a stunning celebration of theatricality, imagination and the joy of play.

“Audiences will see the creative use of chalk, sock puppets, an overhead projector and the creation of over two-dozen characters by one man. Lucas Stibbard’s captivating performance will inspire and delight,” Mr Leong said.

Live music by Neridah Waters, complements this tall tale of whimsy and architectural enlightenment.

WARNING: Contains strong coarse language and adult themes. Suitable for audiences over 15 years.
